In this program, Sarah A. Long, Director of the North Suburban Library System and Host of What’s New In Libraries? will take us on a visit to the Wilmette Public Library where we will find toddlers enjoying story time. SkokieNet is a virtual site made available through the Skokie Public Library. Frances Roehm, the manager of SkokieNet offers information about businesses and services that are taking place in the Skokie Area and using SkokieNet to promote themselves. Every year the North Suburban Library System hosts a legislative breakfast where state legislators in the district have an opportunity to meet with library directors, trustees and staff. We will attend the breakfast and learn about What’s New in Libraries? From the legislator’s perspective.
What's New in Libraries? is an award-winning cable show which aims to showcase the events, programs, and people that make libraries vibrant community centers. Sarah Long, the host, also writes a weekly column for Chicago's Daily Herald, which highlights opportunities and issues in the library world.
Sarah is the director of the North Suburban Library System and host of What's New in Libraries? As a recent past president of the American Library Association, Sarah uses her motivational speeches, weekly Daily Herald newspaper column, and radio and television appearances to advocate locally and nationally for libraries.
